USO Centers of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia Receive $30,000 Upgrade
Armed Forces Families Foundation/Taco Bell have provided funding for the Centers
NORFOLK, VA – Military service members and their families will enjoy some welcome upgrades at multiple USO Centers in the area. The following USO Centers will receive new computers for visitor use: NAVSTA Norfolk AMC Terminal and NMPS Centers, Huntington Hall, Langley AFB, Fort Lee, Richmond International Airport, JEB Little Creek/Fort Story, Norfolk International Airport, Williamsburg/Newport News International Airport, Fort Eustis, and the administrative offices. A total of 51 computers have been provided along with essential software.
The Armed Forces Families Foundation has donated $30,000 to the centers to make the technology upgrades possible and with so many visitors to these centers, they were much in need. Funds for the donation were raised in local Taco Bell restaurants during their annual fundraiser in an effort to help serve those who serve us.
To initiate the new items and show appreciation for those involved, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 17 at 11:00 am at The Ft. Eustis USO Center. All media is invited to attend and Taco Bell will be on‐site providing food for all attendees at this worthy event.
Based on the huge number of annual visits, over 340,000 in 2012, the 11 centers are very important to our local military and their families as a place for recreation as well as assistance on many levels. The new computers will allow visitors to keep in contact with their families via Skype, do online banking, work on college coursework, and more.
