$115k AFFF donation funds new courtyard and garden at Dogs, Inc.

PALMETTO, Fla. (January 24, 2023) – The Armed Forces Families Foundation provided $115,029 for the construction of a peaceful courtyard at campus of Dogs, Inc. (formerly known as Southeastern Guide Dogs) located in Palmetto, Florida.

Many Veterans suffer from PTSD, an impairment that can deeply impact the individual and their family. Service/guide dogs assist with healing by helping to provide a sense of calm and steady, allowing the focus to shift away from triggers and trauma.

The AFFF Courtyard and Gardens provides a space for quiet contemplation, a reprieve, for both service/guide dogs and Veterans and their families while at the Dogs, Inc., facility. While in residence, the training days for both Veterans and dogs are lengthy and intense. The AFFF Courtyard and Garden allows a quiet space for relaxation and bonding during the extensive nine to twenty-one day training program.
