Mayport USO receives $69,878 in renovations from AFFF
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Mayport USO center in Jacksonville received $69,878 from the Armed Forces Families Foundation to be used towards renovations this May.
The Armed Forces Families Foundation provided these funds to help the 30-year-old facility undergo a refresher, which included replacing flooring throughout a 4,200 square foot space.
Additionally, an outdated room divider system was updated, which allows the room to be partitioned into three separate spaces. Electrical and LED lighting upgrades were also completed, which allows the space to be more energy efficient.
The Mayport Center is an 8,000 square foot facility built in 1989 that is the “Home Away From Home” for thousands of active duty Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, Soldiers, Airmen, National Guard and Reserve service members each month. The heavily trafficked space accommodates everything from Family Resource Groups, pre and post deployment briefs, social events of all kinds and a place for rest and relaxation off base.
