North Carolina USO at Charlotte Airport

Remodel and Improve the USO of North Carolina, Charlotte Center Facility

Charlotte, NC – December 16, 2011

The Charlotte USO of North Carolina is located at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, and is one of the busiest USO facilities in the country, serving an average of 8,500 service members and their families each month.  The facility functions as a lounge for military personnel, military retirees and their families traveling to a deployed location or coming home.  Additionally, the facility is used by the Honors Support Team (HST) to coordinate the proper reception of the remains of fallen soldiers and to assist and attend to family members through their difficult time.

The Armed Forces Family Foundation donated $25,000 to the USO of North Carolina to remodel and improve the airport lounge used by service members and their families passing through the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport.  The funds were used to remodel the facility with updated paint, drywall, furniture and computers to accommodate guests and to maintain a professional appearance for the Honor Support Team (HST) events.  This project was completed with the ribbon-cutting conducted in December 2011.
