Design & Furnish USO Center at TPA
Tampa International Airport USO Center
Tampa, FL – September 6, 2012
The Armed Forces Families Foundation contributed $54,000 for the design & furnishing of the first chartered USO Center approved in nearly a decade at the Tampa International Airport. The USO Tampa Bay, Inc. Center at TPA provides a “home away from home” for those service personnel and their families traveling through the airport, waiting for loved ones to return, or seeing loved ones off. The Tampa USO has the ability to serve over 300,000 active-duty military & their families coming through the airport, particularly due to its proximity to MacDill Air Force Base, which is home to U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, and the 6th Air Mobility Wing.
This project included completing the preliminary interior design work, in addition to fully upfitting the 1,132 square foot facility with furniture, décor, kitchen equipment, televisions, computers, game systems & digital screen. The AFFF was responsible for furnishing the reception area and TV room, as well as the kitchen, dining area, quiet room and traveler’s aid facility. The project was completed in August 2012, with the ribbon cutting held on September 6, 2012.
