$50,000 Donation to Tinker K-8 School
MacDill Air Force Base
Tampa, FL – February 12, 2016
The Armed Forces Families Foundation (AFFF) proudly announced their donation of $50,000 to Tinker K-8 School on MacDill AFB. Funds were raised by the Armed Forces Families Foundation, a 100% volunteer organization, in conjunction with local Taco Bell restaurants during their annual “Freedom Bells” fundraiser.
The A-Rated school used the funds to purchase an HP Tablet for each sixth and seventh grade student at Tinker K-8. The new technology will engage Tinker students, helping them further become active learners. Additionally, the tablets enhance learning of complex concepts.
On Friday, February 12th, 2016, AFFF Founder and Managing Director Nick Peters presented a $50,000 check to Superintendent Jeff Eakins and Principal Nancy Mooey at Tinker to commemorate the donation. School Board members as well as military service men and women and children attended the presentation.
“It’s truly awe-inspiring to see the level of generosity shown by our local communities,” said Nick Peters. “By working together, we have been able to help military families. It is difficult to repay the debt we owe to our service men and women.” While speaking at the ceremony Mr. Peters had one request of the children in attendance, “please go home tonight and thank your parents for all they do for all of us every day.”
Following the check presentation, sixth and seventh grade students provided attendees with a demonstration of the new tablets and how they have used them to complete recent assignments. The students showed a great deal of pride as well as gratitude for the new technological advancements.
