PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Armed Forces Families Foundation has pledged $26,656 to renovate the movie theatre at the USO located at Naval Air Station Pensacola. The needed theater renovations of USO NAS Pensacola will offer a comfortable and inviting space for service members and their families providing the perfect place to socialize with family and friends.
A larger new 85” TV will allow for better viewing of movie and television events. Adding upgraded seating will offer more seating for events in the center including Super Bowl and March Madness watch parties.
The planned upgrades will give service members the perfect, affordable place to watch the latest Disney movie with their families. Updating equipment for this highly visited center will improve the overall experience for service members and their families.
NAS Pensacola is known as the “Cradle of Naval Aviation” and serves as the launching point for the flight training of every Naval Aviator, Naval Flight Officer, and enlisted aircrewman. In addition, approximately 23,000 aviation personnel in aeronautical technical phases of naval operations train there. NAS Pensacola provides support to 94 Department of Defense (DoD) and 31 non-DoD tenant commands, most of which are primarily dedicated to the training of Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard personnel in naval aviation.
USO NAS Pensacola is a vital part of the NAS Pensacola community offering a variety of USO services and programs to the service members stationed at NAS Pensacola, averaging over 10,000 visits a month to the center. Service members and their families look forward to visiting the center and attending the many popular events such as Dine on a Dime, military spouse networking, gaming tournaments, children’s activities, and more. Due to the number of service members served the center’s movie theater space requires a facelift.
