AFFF provides nearly $13k to Orlando VA hospital for tranquility garden
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Armed Forces Families Foundation has pledged $12,836.90 to the Orlando VA Healthcare System Acute Mental Health Inpatient Team to make a patio area into an element of treatment and healing by creating a tranquility garden with raised planters and a plush artificial grass setting. Currently, the space is a concrete patio with no esthetics.
The new space will allow for therapeutic activities like yoga and meditation, and will allow veterans in the inpatient mental health ward to participate in horticulture. It will also serve as a place for social distancing.
According to the VA, the space will engender an experience of hopefulness, healing and recovery while maintaining safety.
