AFFF provides nearly $13k to Orlando VA hospital for tranquility garden

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Armed Forces Families Foundation provided $12,836.90 to the Orlando VA Healthcare System Acute Mental Health Inpatient Team to make a patio area into an element of treatment and healing by creating a tranquility garden with raised planters and a plush artificial grass setting. The space was previously a concrete patio with no esthetics.

The new space allows for therapeutic activities like yoga and meditation, and allows veterans in the inpatient mental health ward to participate in horticulture.

According to the VA, the space will engender an experience of hopefulness, healing and recovery while maintaining safety.
