$140k AFFF donation brings new USO Center to Eglin AFB
USO Eglin Air Force Base
The Armed Forces Families Foundation and United Service Organization have completed building a brand new USO Center at Eglin Air Force Base in Okaloosa County, Florida.
AFFF provided $140,000 to help cover the cost to build out the new Center. A significant portion of the donation went towards remodeling space donated by Eglin AFB and converting the area into a functional USO center.
The funds provided by AFFF went toward dining areas, the installation of three pool tables, a sports simulator, seven mounted TVs, expanded internet cafe area, an arcade room, computer lab, conference room and additional indoor program space. The new facility also has a dedicated kid’s room, which is fully equipped with toys, books, and age-appropriate games.
Eglin AFB currently has approximately 11,000 active duty service members plus 5,700 Civilians and 37,200 dependents. Overall, Eglin AFB supports about 71,400 personnel including active duty, civilians, contractors, dependents, and retirees. Additionally, within close proximity of Eglin AFB is Hurlburt Field, Duke Field, and 7th Special Forces Group.
